Introduction/Background
Larry A. Lagasse received his MAI designation in May, 1992 originally entering the real estate field in Dallas, TX in 1984. After being employed as a staff appraiser for several years he quickly advanced to the senior level and began reviewing internally for a fee company. Upon receiving his MAI designation he moved into his own business and eventually ventured out becoming President of the Appraisal Division for American Property Consultants & Appraisers, Inc. in Albuquerque, NM. As the market improved he returned to his private practice while also acting as VP of Finance for a Dallas, TX based management company. The next move was to step into the Chief Reviewer position for a Fee Company also in Dallas. Relocating to the Gulf Coast he became part of Hancock Bank as Vice President and Senior Commercial Appraisal Reviewer. After seven years with the bank he returned once again to his private practice as a Commercial Reviewer/Consultant in his home town of New Orleans. Larry A Lagasse received his MAI/AI-GRS (General Review Specialist) designation from the Appraisal Institute in February 2015.
Experience
As evident by his lengthy 38+ years of experience, commercial appraisal review has been his specialty for more than half of his appraisal career. Working with Fee Companies, Large Corporations and Financial Institutions has given him across-the-board first hand knowledge of all aspects relating to appraisals. The recent seven year term with a substantial lending institution groomed him for the important lending side perspective. Reviewing in the range of 350 commercial appraisals annually for the bank offered extensive knowledge of all types of real estate. During this tenure he also instructed FIRREA, FDIC, OTC and USPAP compliance with bank lenders as well as other administrative staff holding 10 to 12 training's annually. Compliance with regulatory guidelines is his main forte. With changing environments he understands the importance of regulations.
